Hi-tech hi-fi, Naim’s HDX and NaimUniti replace computer-based music systems (August 29, 2009)

If you can’t beat them, join them. Traditional hi-fi companies used to try to differentiate their products from computers by writing off innovations like Internet radio and MP3s as low-quality fads, but most have realized they have to evolve to compete.

To this end, Naim has launched two products that deftly bridge the worlds of computing and conventional hi-fi. With the NaimUniti all-in-one system and HDX media server, the British company is hoping a combination of simplicity and audiophile sound quality will retain old fans and win new ones.
